Rangers book Glasgow Cup Final clash with Celtic after Glenn Middleton's deadly Colts double against Clyde

Rangers Colts will face Celtic in the City of Glasgow Cup Final next month after downing Clyde 2-0.

Two goals from Glenn Middleton booked the Ibrox kids' place in the Broadwood final as a young Colts side bossed a tough match against senior League Two opposition.

The victory saw the Light Blues rise to second in the five-team table, leapfrogging Partick Thistle who had already played all eight fixtures.

They had already defeated bottom side Queen's Park 3-0 last week to give them a shot at glory and a point was all that was needed.

Middleton set his side well on their way with a strike in the first half before a sensational free-kick midway through the second 45 minutes made sure of the result.

And it has set up a mammoth clash against Rangers' arch-rivals in the New Year.

There is no specific date currently set for the Cumbernauld showdown but organisers have committed to finishing the tournament next month.
