WATCH: Christian Coleman facing possibility of a two-year ban

Christian Coleman, the fastest 100-meter sprinter in the United States and the current “world’s fastest man,” is facing the possibility of a two-year ban due to a “whereabouts failures.”

Athletes in the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency’s drug-testing pool are required to share their whereabouts for a specific time frame throughout the year so that they can be drug-tested on the spot. Failing to share their whereabouts or not being present when a drug tester arrives is considered a violation. Coleman reportedly has three of those instances over the last 12 months, which qualifies as a doping violation.

First-time doping violations can lead to a suspension of up to two years.

Coleman ran the world’s fastest 100-meter time this summer, posting a 9.81 to win the Prefontaine Classic in Stanford, Calif. He’s also among the world’s best 200-meter sprinters, clocking a 19.91 in July.
