WATCH: Chiefs WR Sammy Watkins strikes first for 68-yard touchdown

The Kansas City Chiefs are off to a hot start.

It only took three plays and the Chiefs are already on the board with a long touchdown catch and run by WR Sammy Watkins. Patrick Mahomes hits Watkins in stride and he turns on the jets to make defenders miss and outrun them on a 68-yard touchdown.

Getting off to a hot start on offense is something the Chiefs wanted to do because this Jaguars team is not built to come from behind. They want to play the football control game and run the ball instead of getting into a shootout. Take a look at the play here:

Watkins is also a huge key to this game with the Jaguars working to take away both Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce. He needs to win those 1-on-1 matchups to help relieve some of those matchups. He could be in for a really big game. This is why the Chiefs front office was so adamant about going out and getting Watkins.

This offseason has been one of the best of Watkins’ career. It’s the first time in three seasons that he isn’t learning a new offense. He’s updated his training regimen and is just generally a lot more comfortable for the Chiefs. This could potentially be the beginning of a very big season for Watkins.
