WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ scramble drill touchdown to WR Byron Pringle

People describe the things that Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes does on the football field in a lot of different ways.

“He’s not human.”

“He’s a cheat code.”

“Quarterbacks aren’t supposed to be able to do that.”

He had another one of those instances tonight against the Indianapolis Colts.

Mahomes had just been sacked by former Chiefs LB Justin Houston. Momentum had turned to the Colts favor forcing a third-and-long situation for Kansas City. On third-and-17, Mahomes scrambled around, reversing field to buy some time for his receivers to get open. That’s when the magic happened. Mahomes finds Byron Pringle down the field and uncorks a beauty of a pass that only Mahomes could possibly make.

Check it out:

I mean in this situation how many people are thinking endzone? Most coaches tell their quarterback to just get the ball a little closer for their field goal kicker. Not the Chiefs, and not Mahomes. They’ve got something else in mind.

There are so few players who can create something out of nothing the way that Mahomes can. He spins out of the pressure and avoids defenders in pursuit and his eyes are always downfield. Let’s not forget that Pringle is stepping up in a big way for the Chiefs too. All in all, this is a great play that really reminds us of just how special Mahomes is.
