WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes mic’d up during practice at Arrowhead Stadium

Kansas City Chiefs star QB Patrick Mahomes was mic’d up at training camp during the first practice the team held at Arrowhead Stadium. Mahomes, of course, put on a show for nearly 2,000 Chiefs Kingdom faithful who were permitted to attend the open practice under the team’s new COVID-19 protocols.

“Doggone! Hot dog, man,” Mahomes exclaimed looking up at the fans inside Arrowhead Stadium. “People!”

“Dude, when I came out, it got kind of loud,” Mahomes told his offensive teammates.

You can hear the fan cheers in the background when Travis Kelce arrived at practice. Mahomes tries to get the crowd a little pumped up, yelling Kelce’s name and so on for his teammates and coaches as they arrived. Just imagine what it will sound like this season with just under 17,000 fans in attendance at the game.

During this mic’d up you get a little exclusive listen to the closed-circuit broadcast from Mitch Holthus and new color commentator Danan Hughes, which aired for the fans during practice. Holthus notes that it’s crunch time, with the team being just 19 days away from the season opener.

“Hey, flying around and finishing everywhere,” Mahomes tells the defense. He doesn’t want anyone slacking off at practice, even if they’re lining up against him.

This edition of mic’d up gives us so many “white-eighty set hut’s” it’s enough to make your head spin. Mahomes also gets to make his case to become the Chiefs’ backup long snapper, though, I have a feeling that they won’t let him do that anytime soon.

Of course, what better way to finish it off than Mahomes working the skills challenge at the end of practice.
