WATCH: Chiefs K Harrison Butker converts 77-yard field goal

The defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs have been enjoying the offseason, yet many players are already preparing for next season. The coronavirus pandemic is keeping players away from team facilities, but luckily for kicker Harrison Butker, he can work on his craft in solitude. Butker posted on his social media earlier this week with an impressive showcase of his strong leg.

Butker is shown in the viral video kicking a 77-yard field goal on an empty practice field and using a tee. The creative way of social distancing has provided the young kicker a platform to show off his range. The former Georgia Tech Yellowjacket is already second in NFL history in career field goal percentage, so we know that he’s accurate. While this kick has some record-breaking distance, it’s worth noting he had some help from the gusty Kansas City winds.

Butker’s career-long in-game field goal is 56 yards, which occurred last season against the Chicago Bears in Week 16. The NFL record for the longest field goal is 64-yards by Matt Prater in thin Denver air during the 2013 season.

You can bet that Butker will remember this field goal and try to convince Chiefs HC Andy Reid to let him attempt a long field goal during the 2020 NFL season. If the conditions are right, Reid might be wise to listen.
