Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones recently signed a four-year extension with the team. Jones has a YouTube channel and recently posted a new video following his extension. He’s getting a late-night or early-morning haircut during the video and just talked through his extension a bit.
Apparently, this was the first time that Jones told the story about Patrick Mahomes sending him the now-infamous text message after his half-billion-dollar contract extension. Mahomes wrote to Jones, “Let’s get this thing done. I left some on the table, let’s get this thing done.” It basically smoothed over every problem that had been going on very publicly between Jones and the Chiefs during contract negotiations.
During Jones’ video, we actually find out about his response that he sent back to Mahomes’ text message. Frankly, after hearing all the talk out of Kansas City this offseason, Jones’ response shouldn’t surprise Chiefs Kingdom in the slightest. These guys know that the next decade in the NFL can be theirs if they continue to get better and play quality football.
