Watch: Cheers as Doreen, 92, leaves hospital after coronavirus recovery

This was the remarkable scene at a Bristol hospital when a 92-year-old who had coronavirus was discharged after making a full recovery.

Doreen Honeyfield had battled Covid-19 on Ward 200 of the South Bristol Community Hospital, and had 'captured the hearts' of the staff there.

So when she was declared Covid-free having made a remarkable recovery and was discharged from the hospital in Hengrove, virtually the entire staff - doctors, nurses, assistants and cleaners, formed a guard of honour.

A video captured what happened as she was wheeled out of the ward, down the corridor and through the atrium of the hospital to rapturous applause and cheering.

Ward 200 sister Alicia said: "On the day that she was discharged from hospital there was not a dry eye in the building," said Ward 200's ward sister, Alicia.

"Doreen said that she would ‘pop back sometime’ to visit us.

"She truly is a remarkable lady - kind, strong and has a fantastic sense of humour. Ward 200 wishes her all the best for the future," she added.
