Feb. 15--Two months after his "Saturday Night Live" debut, Chance the Rapper returned to the "SNL" stage Saturday to join friend Kanye West for his performance of "Ultralight Beam."
The South Side rapper, 22, also referenced the Laquan McDonald shooting, as he did in December.
"But people just please don't forget about Jason Van Dyke / You can not mess with the light," sang Chance, born Chancelor Bennett.
Van Dyke, a veteran Chicago police officer, was charged with first-degree murder in November for shooting 17-year-old Laquan McDonald 16 times in 2014. McDonald's killing has spurred numerous protests and the firing of police Superintendent Garry McCarthy.
West enthusiastically encouraged Chance on stage, furthering solidifying his relationship with the rapper. Earlier Saturday, West blamed Chance on Twitter for the delay in the release of his new album "The Life of Pablo."
"It's Chance's fault the album not out yet... he really wanted 'Waves' on that (expletive)... we in the lab now...," West wrote. "The Life of Pablo" was released over the weekend with Chance's "Waves" track, which Chance said made "the world better."
After his "SNL" appearance, West took to Twitter Sunday to thank Chance.
"SNL" airs on NBC at 10:30 p.m.
