Watch Celtic restart training as Neil Lennon's men demonstrate socially distanced fitness regime

Celtic have returned to training for the first time since the Scottish football shutdown, working in small groups at Lennoxtown.

The coronavirus pandemic called all football to a halt in March, with training sessions also banned.

Clubs have now been given permission to return to non-contact training while respecting social distancing, with both Celtic and Ross County back this week.

The Hoops players were put through their paces by Neil Lennon and his staff as they prepare for the August restart.

Stars such Scott Brown and James Forrest put their dribbling to the test after months without kicking a ball in anger, while Kris Ajer could be seen stretching off the rust.

Left-back Greg Taylor and midfielder Ryan Christie, meanwhile, were subjected to shuttle runs with and without the ball.

Lennon explained last week how the sessions would work.

He said: "It'll be groups of five, so we'll have two groups in the morning, two groups at lunchtime and two groups in the afternoon.

"So we'll get to see them all. I haven't seen them for a while, you tend to miss them. You miss how close you are, that camaraderie, that atmosphere around the place.

"Again, there will be certain protocols. They can't go in the building, they'll have to do other stuff outside.

"That's fine, we're just delighted we can have some sort of semblance of training, and we have a target now of the first week of August."
