Watch Celtic fans give team bus a pyro fuelled welcome as supporters defy Covid rules at Hampden

Celtic fans gathered in numbers to give their heroes a pyro-fuelled welcome ahead of the Scottish Cup Final despite lockdown restrictions.

Hundreds of supporters descended on Hampden with flags and banners ahead of their Sunday afternoon showdown with Hearts.

Neil Lennon 's side are bidding to complete an unprecedented quadruple Treble against the Championship leaders.

Fans chanted and applauded as Celtic arrived at the national stadium despite strict rules against public gatherings to stop the spread of Covid-19.

The delayed Final was postponed in April due to the pandemic but was rescheduled for December in the hope fans would be allowed to return to grounds.

But turnstiles in Glasgow remain locked, with the city mired in Level 3 restrictions.

There was a heavy police presence at the gathering as officers patrolled the area on horseback.

Current Scottish Government guidance on gatherings reads: "It’s against the law for more than six people, or people from more than two households, to meet socially.

"This applies both outdoors, like in a private garden or a park, and in indoor public places like restaurants, pubs or cafés."
