This should be the first of many, many more NBA buckets for Cassius Winston. On Sunday, the former Michigan State guard gained his first action for the Washington Wizards, and he scored his first bucket. He would go on to finish with 6 points, 3 assists and 2 rebounds in 18 minutes.
This is still the preseason, so he’ll still need to score in the regular season before he can start accruing career stats, but it was nice to see Winston hit his first bucket. It came on a play MSU fans have seen many times.
Winston had the ball at the top of the key and peeled around a screen to hit a running, deep two-pointer.

Late in the game, Cassius Winston also hit another long jumper coming off a screen, which you can watch on the next page…
NEXT: Cassius already making NBA defenders look silly
Here we see Cassius using his screener to pick a legitimate NBA starter in Brooklyn’s Joe Harris and curl around for an easy bucket. This is something we saw Winston do over and over again at the college level and it’s very nice and reaffirming to see that he’ll still be able to get to his spot at the next level:
