Watch cars battle through Otley flooding before road closed in Storm Ciara chaos

Flooding is causing widespread disruption in Otley as the River Wharfe has burst its banks.

on Sunday, February 9 has flooded the A660, that runs between Otley and Burley-in-Wharfedale.

Parts of Wharfemedows Park and other low-lying areas near the river have also been submerged, as the river continues to rise.

The Environment Agency has told people to prepare for flooding and stated that "immediate action" is required.

West Yorkshire Police are also urging people to stay inside and avoid driving on motorways unless "absolutely necessary".

The Environment Agency warning states: "We are issuing the flood warning for the River Wharfe at Otley due to heavy rain associated with Storm Ciara.

"The Wharfe at Otley is currently forecast to peak at 1.85m at about 5pm. We are monitoring the situation closely."

The Met Office has issued an extreme weather warning with guidelines stating that there could even be a "danger to life from flying debris".

The storm has brought torrential rain and winds of up to 78mph, which have caused widespread disruption on roads and railways.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER), TransPennine Express and Northern are also advising passengers to avoid travelling today, as they have been force to close flooded lines, run reduced timetables and implement speed restrictions.
