WATCH: Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald moves up to No. 2 all-time in receptions

The Arizona Cardinals lost to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday 27-10 at State Farm Stadium, but history was made. Needing five receptions to move past Tony Gonzalez on the NFL all-time list for career receptions, Larry Fitzgerald made it to No. 2.

It was in the final two minutes of the fourth quarter with the Cardinals trying to get closer and Fitzgerald caught a pass and ran for a 15-yard gain.

That gave him 1,326 receptions in his career, passing Gonzalez, a Hall of Famer.

There was no time for celebration or even to get the ball to the sideline, and after the game he wasn’t in a mood to really reflect on the achievement because the team lost.

But now no one separates Fitz and Jerry Rice, the NFL all-time leader in receptions.

Rice was on hand at the game and congratulated him.

Rice finished his career with 1,549 receptions, 223 more than Fitzgerald has.

Fitzgerald is on pace for 92 receptions this season, which would give him 1,395 for his career. He would need 155 catches to move up to No. 1, which would take at least two more seasons.

That might not happen but at least for now there is only one man above him — Jerry Rice, the man Fitzgerald calls the greatest of all time.
