Watch: Cardinals DC Vance Joseph downplays Kliff Kingsbury’s NFL inexperience

The Arizona Cardinals paired new head coach Kliff Kingsbury with a defensive coordinator, Vance Joseph, who has been a head coach in the league.

However, Joseph doesn’t think Kingsbury is going to struggle. While he has never been a coach of any sort in the NFL, Joseph told reporters Kingsbury is ready for what is coming.

“When you say first-time head coach, yes, in the league, but not in college,” Joseph explained. “He’s been a head coach.”

Before being hired by the Cardinals, Kingsbury was the head coach at Texas Tech for six seasons.

“Kliff is well prepared to be a head coach in this league,” Joseph continued. “He’s been a head coach, and from college to the NFL, it’s not much different when it comes to leadership or building plans for your players. He’s experienced at that.”

Part of why Vance Joseph was hired was so Kinsgbury had someone to bounce ideas off of or someone to go to for advice. Joseph said he Kingsbury can definitely do that, but the Cardinals are Kliff’s team and Joseph thinks his new boss is going to be just fine.
