WATCH: Cardinals CB Byron Murphy get 1st career INT

The Arizona Cardinals gave rookie cornerback Byron Murphy a tough assignment. He was asked to follow Tampa Bay Buccaneers receiver Chris Godwin, who is on pace for over 100 receptions and 1,500 yards.

However, it didn’t take long for him to make a big play.

On the third play from scrimmage for the Buccaneers, Murphy took the ball away. It was a third-down pass from Jameis Winston intended for Godwin and Murphy jumped in front of him to pick off the pass.

Here is the play:

It was the first interception of his pro career.

The Cardinals turned that interception into a 3-0 lead.

Murphy was the 33rd overall pick in the draft this year and the Cardinals believed he was the best cornerback in the draft class. Murphy has played in all but four defensive snaps this season.
