WATCH: Can this version of the Boston Celtics be a great team?

Can this iteration of the Boston Celtics transform itself into a great team by the time the dust settles on the 2021-22 NBA regular season? Or is this campaign doomed to be more of a practice run to train the team’s young players while gradually tweaking the team’s roster along the way?

To be sure, there are a number of serious issues with this team in terms of roster construction, skill development, and style of play on both ends of the court. And while we have seen some significant growth from the team in adopting new head coach Ime Udoka’s intensive switch-everything style of play on the defensive end of the ball, finding the right approach and players to improve the offense is a job still in need of doing.

The hosts of the CLNS Media podcast “Celtics Beat” recently linked up with Hall of Fame Celtics broadcaster Mike Gorman to talk just how good this version of the team can be given what we know — and what we don’t.

Watch the video embedded above to hear what Gorman, Evan Valenti, and Adam Kaufman have to say on what they have seen — and how far they think it can take Boston when the games matter most.
