Cam Newton and Cameron Jordan are probably not going to star in a buddy cop movie anytime soon, but there does seem to be a lot of respect going both ways.
The Saints defensive end was a guest on the Colin Cowherd show on Monday and he shared a lot of praise for Newton. When he was asked if there are different strategies for sacking different quarterbacks, Jordan threw some shade at Matt Ryan then gushed about Newton’s ability to escape sacks and make plays. Watch.
Newton has been sacked 285 times in his career so far. Just imagine what the number would be if he wasn’t so strong and elusive.
Fortunately for Newton, this offseason the Panthers made some serious upgrades to their offensive line. In theory, that should help keep guys like Jordan away from Newton. Pro Football Focus has the unit ranked at No. 10 going into this season.
