Calvin Johnson appears to be ending his self-imposed exile from football after a couple of years outside the limelight.
The former Lions All-Pro took in a game in a private suite at Ford Field last fall. Now he’s becoming more visible in the media for football things, too.
Johnson recorded a segment of NFL Total Access where he worked out and coached up intriguing draft prospect Hakeem Butler. The Lions legend offered some seasoned advice to Butler on how to get off the line and use his hands to free himself from tight press coverage.
Butler has some physical similarity to Johnson, though he’s not nearly as dynamic of a runner in the open field. But it’s still nice to see Johnson back on a football field, even if he’ll never don the Honolulu Blue again.
