Watch Calvin Bassey leave Rangers team-mates in his wake as defender scores mazy training goal

He's not had too much chance to impress on the pitch so far - but it seems Calvin Bassey is doing the business in training.

The Rangers defender arrived from Leicester in the summer and has impressed in limited spells while struggling to oust Borna Barisic from the team.

He's staking his claim in training by the looks of things though, as the full-back scored a fine goal that left his team-mates in his wake.

With another big European clash on the horizon manager Steven Gerrard put his side through their paces at Auchenhowie.

Ahead of the trip to Benfica the Rangers squad played a small-sided game with four goals as the players showed off their skills.

Gerrard will have been pleased with his side's commitment, though hearts may have been in mouths when Connor Goldson put in a fairly hefty challenge on Ianis Hagi.

The defender won the ball and clearly enjoyed himself but was soon on the receiving end of some treatment by Bassey.

The centre-back lost the ball in the corner as the Englishman span away from him.

Bassey then sold Borna Barisic a dummy and despite an attempted intervention by Alfredo Morelos he stuck the ball into the mini goal.

Fans will hope the former Leicester man can produce similar in Portugal on Thursday night.

Watch the Rangers stars go through their preparations in the video above.
