Watch: BYU’s bomb with 16 seconds left forces overtime with Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers suffered yet another defeat this Saturday at the hands of the BYU Cougars. I bet Jeremy Pruitt wishes he were still in Athens now. His seat is already getting red-hot in his second season. The Georgia Bulldogs come to Knoxville in the Dawgs’ fifth game of the season. That one may not be pretty for Rocky Top.

Tennessee had BYU beat tonight. All the Volunteers needed was to hold BYU out of field goal range with sixteen seconds left in the game. BYU had the ball on their own twenty before connecting on this bomb:

This play is the epitome of bad secondary play for the Vols. Not only does the safety give up a thirty plus yard completion, but he also misses a tackle attempt at the forty yard-line, which would’ve forced BYU to try another play. That’s not what Tennessee wanted in the that situation to say the least. Instead, BYU barely made a field goal to force overtime and ultimately won the game on this play:

You almost feel bad for the Vols. Almost.
