Watch busking band belt out Brown Eyed Girl in the middle of Newcastle

It's more of a night out song than a middle of the day one but that didn't stop a busking band from belting out Brown Eyed Girl on Saturday afternoon in Newcastle.

The Van Morrison song is a big favourite with loads of Geordies and was one of the memorable anthems from the bygone days of Baja Beach Club and remains a crowd pleaser at places like Cosy Joe's.

But it was up next to Grey's Monument that it can an airing on a busy Saturday in Newcastle as a band called Soznak entertained shoppers.

The multi-instrument lineup gave a slightly more subdued take on Brown Eyed Girl than most of us do after we've had a few drinks but, nonetheless, they earned the approval of shoppers, some of whom stopped, listened and even had a little dance.

Fast forward a few hours and it was another party classic - just along the road as hundreds of revellers sang along with great passion to the Neil Diamond song.
