Bulls president Michael Reinsdorf and NBA Cares Ambassador Jason Collins came together at the Advocate Center on Wednesday evening to kick off the Bulls’ season-long community outreach program.
The NBA and the Bulls will work together all season on different community initiatives in celebration of Chicago hosting the 2020 All-Star Game.
“Throughout the season every month we’re going to be doing different events,” Reinsdorf said. “We’re going to be working with the NBA to kind of enhance what we do on a normal basis.”
“There are a lot of great organizations that the Chicago Bulls have a long standing relationship with,” Collins said. “We help to amplify and support those efforts.”
The All-Star themed kick-off event hosted 60 kids from various Chicago community organizations who were led through drills by Bulls greats such as Horace Grant, Toni Kukoc, Bob Love and Mickey Johnson.
Wednesday’s event is just the beginning of what will be an entire season celebrating the All-Star Game being played in Chicago for the first time since 1988.
“I’m just excited for everyone to see what Chicago is all about,” Reinsdorf said. “People talk a lot about Chicago, I think it’s one of the greatest cities in the world. I just want people to see Chicago the same way I see it.”
