WATCH: Broncos WR Emmanuel Sanders appears to be running full-speed routes

This is great news for the Broncos.

Emmanuel Sanders suffered a season-ending Achilles injury last December, putting the wide receiver’s status for the team’s 2019 season opener in doubt. Sanders has been making great progress in his recovery, though, and he appears to be running routes at full speed again.

“Back in the lab running routes,” Sanders captioned an Instagram video post on Friday. “Month and a half till training camp. Bout to turn up the heat.”

Sanders seems unlikely to be completely healthy in time for training camp but it’s beginning to look more and more likely that he could return in time for the team’s season opener against the Raiders on Sept. 9.

The 32-year-old receiver has said he will be back in time for the regular season and general manager John Elway is hoping he will be.

“We’re hoping [he’ll be back by Week 1],” Elway during a pre-draft press conference in April. “If there is anybody that can come back, it’s going to be him.”

In 12 games last season, Sanders hauled in 71 receptions for 868 yards and four touchdowns. He also threw a touchdown pass and rushed for a touchdown, bringing his 2019 TD total to six.
