WATCH: Broncos players practicing at Denver area park

Due to COVID-19, the Denver Broncos had a virtual offseason program this year in place of usual in-person organized team activities. The coronavirus also caused the NFL to cancel all June minicamps teams had scheduled.

That means Broncos players won’t get to work with the team’s coaches until the start of training camp in late July. To help players make up some of the work they’re missing with no OTAs or minicamp, quarterback Drew Lock organized some unofficial workouts at a Denver area park.

On Saturday, KMGH-TV’s Troy Renck tweeted a short video of Broncos players going through a run play.

In the video, Lock is seen handing off to running back Phillip Lindsay, who runs behind fullback Andrew Beck. As Renck pointed out, Ja’Wuan James was practicing after missing most of last season with an MCL injury.

“There’s a rumor that he’s working with the players by himself,” Broncos offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur said of Lock on June 11. “That’s a rumor that I heard. Also, along with that rumor, I heard it’s going well.”

Denver’s coaching staff is undoubtedly pleased with the leadership Lock showed by setting up the unofficial practices this offseason.
