Watch Bristol Rovers legend and former Liverpool star Rickie Lambert roll back the years with stunning strike

It's now nearly two years since Rickie Lambert retired but it's clear that he still retains that touch of class.

The former England striker hung up his boots in October 2017 after leaving Cardiff City that summer.

Lambert finished his career with 218 goals in 607 league games over 19 years and took in nine clubs while he hit three goals in his 11 appearances for England.

A brilliant spell at Bristol Rovers led to his 2009 move to Southampton where he truly made his name at the highest level before a high-profile switch to Liverpool.

Lambert was back in Bristol on Sunday for the Martin Belsten Memorial Match at Mangotsfield United and he made his mark with a fantastic strike from 40-yards to open the scoring.

The one-time striker spots the keeper off the line and decides to lob him in fine style to the delight of the 2,000-strong crowd.

Speaking to Bristol Live ahead of the game, he explained: "I played in a testimonial about eight months ago and I couldn't really move then so I can't wait to see what I am like today!"
