Watch: Brian Billick liked what he saw from Kurt Benkert in Hall of Fame Game

The Falcons have now lost nine straight preseason games and they seem to be getting worse each time out – not that it matters.

In last night’s Hall of Fame game against Denver, only a handful of players had strong performances. Running back Brian Hill, rookie defensive lineman John Cominsky, linebacker Foye Oluokun and a few others had some good moments on the field.

The star of the evening for Atlanta though was third-string quarterback Kurt Benkert. After an abysmal first quarter from Matt Schaub, Benkert came in and immediately breathed some life into the Falcons offense. Watch former NFL coach Brian Billick talk about Benkert’s solid night.

Benkert made a good case to supplant Schaub as Matt Ryan’s primary backup. However, the preseason is still young and Benkert had to leave the game early with a toe injury.
