The average NFL fan rarely appreciates just how complex the game is. Perhaps that’s why quarterbacks get more credit than they deserve for win streaks and too much blame when their team loses. Successful football requires a lot of moving parts to work together cohesively. Some of those parts get no share of the glory or credit, but they’re just as important when it comes to contributing to wins and losses.
Panthers tight end Chris Manhertz is an excellent example. His blocking has been a major reason why Carolina has been able to keep Kyle Allen alive despite having the worst pass blocking win rate in the league this year.
