Watch bizarre goal that helped non-league Dunston UTS win title

This has got to be one of the most bizarre goals you'll ever see.

It was scored during a match between Gateshead-based non-league side Dunston UTS and Guisborough Town.

Dunston went on to win the Northern League Division 1 after beating Guisborough 3-1.

And one of the goals, featured in the video above, became the talk of the town.

Dunston, who were more than 10 points clear at the top of the division with games in hand, had luck on their side as they faced off against Guisborough.

In the clip, Guisborough can be seen on the attack at the UTS stadium, but things were about to take a swift turn in favour of the home side.

The Guisborough goalkeeper floats in a free-kick towards the Dunston box, but the home side are able to clear quickly.

As a Dunston defender steps in to thwart the attack, he looks to boot the ball up the opposite end of the field.

Then, to cries of "have it" from the crowd, the defender hacks the ball clear with a great effort that reaches the opposite end of the pitch.

Realising the opposition keeper is still halfway up the pitch from taking the free-kick, the defender send the ball towards the Guisborough goal.

The crowd get audibly more animated as the ball bounces towards the net, and they explode into applause when a Dunston forward heads in the rebound, securing the league title for the North East side.

Scores of football fans took to social media to congratulate Dunston on the big win.

Footy Corner Tweeted: "Fans of non-league side Dunston UTS will be remembering this goal for years to come."

LazyFanSports‏ also shared the video and said: "This deserves to be seen! Video from non-league side Dunston UTS as one of their players hits the bar from 85 yards! Great assist though."

Another comment read: "Well done Dunston UTS Football Club and what a way to do it!"
