WATCH: Bills head coach Sean McDermott kicks Patriots staffers off the sideline

One of the most important Week 4 games kicks off at 1:00 p.m. ET when the 3-0 Patriots take on the 3-0 Bills at New Era Field in Buffalo. It’s an unusual place for the Bills to be, trying to wrest control of the AFC East from the “Evil Empire,” but Sean McDermott’s team has done it with a stingy defense and a solid run-based attack led by quarterback Josh Allen. And in two games last season, that defense limited Tom Brady to a 60.9% completion rate, one touchdown, and two interceptions. In fact, the Bills were the only team last season to give Brady an unfavorable touchdown-to-interception ratio.

Perhaps that’s why a couple of Patriots staffers were paying extra attention to the Bills’ pre-game warmups, pen and paper in hand? Perhaps they were just trying to get a sense of who’s active and inactive, but McDermott was having none of it, and kicked the staffers off the sideline.

Of course, the Patriots’ predilection for subterfuge is well-documented, which might explain McDermott’s reaction. And one wonders if, after he ran back into the locker room, if McDermott was intent on placing a call to the league office.
