WATCH: Bill O’Brien stresses Texans must be more consistent in locker room postgame

Coach Bill O’Brien was pleased with the Houston Texans’ 27-24 comeback win over the Oakland Raiders Sunday afternoon at NRG Stadium, but he was realistic about the long-term implications of the victory.

While the Texans are 5-3 on the year, they are still second in the AFC South and have a tough slate ahead for the next half of the season. The six-year coach stressed to his team, in a video from the locker room postgame, that they need to get better at playing a more consistent ballgame.

“When we play to win the way we’re capable of playing, we’ve got a good football team,” O’Brien said. “But when we don’t, we’re not very good. And, so, we’ve got to understand what we need to do to be more consistent so we play that way for 60 minutes. We have yet to play a 60-minute game the way we want to play.

“And you guys are capable, we’re all capable, of doing that. So we’ve got to get that going this week. We have a big week this week. Great team win.”

The Texans got down to the Raiders 21-13 in the third quarter and the game appeared to be going the way some two of their other three losses had to the Carolina Panthers in Week 4 and the Indianapolis Colts in Week 7. Houston seemed to be letting the game slip away, and the penalties with seven for 50 yards gave the impression the Texans
