Despite losing one of the linchpins of its elite defense over the summer in big man Al Horford, the Boston Celtics have still managed to maintain a top-10 defense in the NBA in the 2019-20 NBA season so far.
Their hyper-athletic wings and strong team chemistry to move as if on a string on defense, whether switching, man-to-man or zone schemes are needed.
But one of the best tools they have in their defensive toolkit is the team’s willingness to take a charge — and more importantly, pull it off without getting hit with blocking fouls more often than not.
And while it’s usually veteran guard Marcus Smart putting himself in the way of bodies of all sizes, his teammates do their part as well.
