‘The Process’ is paying off for Ben Simmons. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the 22-year-old and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a five-year, $170 million maximum contract to keep the player with the team.
The agreement comes a season after Philly secured its future with Joel Embiid. Simmons averaged 16.9 points per game, 8.8 rebounds and 7.7 assists with the team last season and is a player the franchise is firm about building around after selecting him out of LSU with the first overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft, despite his struggles with his jump shot during the teams’ playoff games.
