WATCH: Becky Hammon should avoid Lakers job

The Los Angeles Lakers are still searching for their next head coach after former Cleveland Cavaliers head coach and former Lakers player Tyronn Lue reportedly turned down their offer this week because of the duration of the pitched contract.

Some analysts have speculated that Becky Hammon could be among the candidates to receive a call from Los Angeles, but the job seems to be one unfit for many and a mere vacancy which offers the opportunity for a woman to become an NBA head coach for the first time is not reason enough for her to take a job no one else seems to want. The Spurs assistant became the first woman to interview for an NBA head coach job last offseason when the Milwaukee Bucks interviewed her for their opening and she is considered the front runner to become the first female head coach in the NBA.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver wants a female head coach in the league soon, and Hammon is the trailblazer to do it, but this may not be the best job for her — even if she is one of the best candidates available for the job.
