Bears quarterback Mitch Trubisky is expected to return to the field in Sunday’s Week 7 game versus the Saints. The third-year QB took all of Thursday’s reps at the position in practice, according to ESPN’s Jeff Dickerson.
The 2017 second overall NFL Draft pick dislocated his left shoulder, also suffering a slight labrum tear, in Chicago’s (3-2) Week win versus the Vikings. Backup Chase Daniel, an 11-year pro, came off the bench to help the Bears past the Vikings (4-2) 16-6. But Daniel wasn’t able to help Chicago to a win in the team’s Week 5 game versus the Raiders (3-2) in London.
Trubisky avoided surgery on the injury and has worked through rehab including during the team’s Week 6 bye week. Although Trubisky’s third season in the league hasn’t been as impressive as his first two seasons were, the quarterback is clearly the Bears’ best option.
In four starts this season, the 25-year-old has 588 passing yards for three touchdowns and two interceptions. Trubisky has completed 69 of 106 pass attempts, posting a 65.1 completion percentage this season.
