Watch: Bears pull out miracle win on last-second FG against Broncos

The Kicking Gods owed the Chicago Bears one. And, who would have thought it would be repaid so quickly.

After falling behind the Denver Broncos, 14-13, Sunday on a bizarre series of PAT events, Chicago got a 53-yard field goal from Eddy Peneiro as time expired for a 16-14 victory in the Mile High City.

How Denver went ahead was a story in itself. Joe Flacco found Emmanuel Sanders for a TD with 31 seconds left to bring the Broncos within 13-12.

Then this unfolded on the PAT:

1st & Goal at CHI 7

(0:31 – 4th)  PENALTY on DEN, Delay of Game, 5 yards, enforced at CHI 2 – No Play. B.McManus extra point is No Good, Wide Right, Center-C.Kreiter, Holder-C.Wadman. PENALTY on CHI-B.Skrine, Defensive Offside, 5 yards, enforced at CHI 20 – No Play. TWO-POINT CONVERSION ATTEMPT. J.Flacco pass to E.Sanders is complete. ATTEMPT SUCCEEDS.

Of course, the Bears and their fans suffered immensely as last season ended with Cody Parkey’s double-doink miss against the Eagles in the playoffs.

The loss was incredibly tough for Vic Fangio, who appeared to have his first victory as a head coach when Flacco and Saunders connected for the 2-point conversion to give Denver the lead against the team he was defensive coordinator for before going to the Broncos.
