Watch: Balbriggan community enjoys new drone food delivery service
Video footage posted to Instagram shows residents in Blabriggan receiving takeaway meals delivered by drone.
The clip, posted by drone delivery service Manna, shows a food package being placed outside a house by a drone hovering high in the sky above.
Manna Drone Delivery is an Irish company that is gearing up to help the hungry folk of Blabriggan with this unique new addition to the area.
The service promises delivery in as little as three minutes for things like takeaway food, coffee, medical supplies and more, all from businesses based in the area.
Manna prides itself on its sustainable solution to delivery, citing less drivers on the road and its use if electric drones with zero emissions.
They also point out that this is a quieter way of delivering food without the noise of cars on the ground in neighbourhoods.
Manna Drone Delivery is yet to add restaurants and stores to its app, but tagged multiple establishments in an Instagram post including Tesco, Guilt Trip Coffee & Donuts and Cabana Speciality Coffee, among others.
Customers order food, coffee and a variety of supplies through the Manna Drone Delivery app and pay by card like they would with the likes of Just Eat and Deliveroo.
The food is then prepared, packaged, collected by drone and dropped to the home address during a contact free delivery.
Manna has been trialling the service in Balbriggan for a few weeks now and has posted videos and pictures of what future users customers might expect when ordering on the app.
In December, they posted footage and snaps of one local couple receiving two full Irish breakfasts, coffee and the morning paper from a delivery drone.
The company's operations base is located at the Millfield Shopping Centre in Balbriggan and it can fly drones within a 2km radius of that.
