Watch: Baker Mayfield fires a rocket shot for six

For the second-straight week Cleveland Browns’ quarterback Baker Mayfield was intercepted on his first throw of the game. He opened Sunday’s meeting with the Cincinnati Bengals by underthrowing a vertical route in the direction of Odell Beckham Jr. The pass was intercepted, Beckham stayed down on the ground with a lower body injury that ended his day early, and the knives were out on social media. It was time to bench the young QB.

As the kids like to say, maybe Mayfield read the tweets:

Mayfield absolutely rips this throw, drilling in a high velocity pass to rookie tight end Harrison Bryant for his second touchdown of the day. As a quarterback, when you attack zone coverage in the red zone everything has to happen faster, including the throw itself. Mayfield shows that on this touchdown to the rookie tight end.

It might not be enough to stave off the boo-birds, but this throw from Mayfield might end up being the best of the day from the young quarterback.
