Watch as youngsters joyride stolen JCB roller through Ayrshire housing estate

A ‘young team’ have been spotted riding a stolen JCB steamroller through an Ayrshire estate, with police launching a probe into the incident.

Footage posted online shows the moment a gang of youths chant loudly and drive the machine through Wallacetown in Ayr around 10.30pm on Wednesday October 13.

In the clip, the youngsters can be seen sat and standing on top of the machinery as they roll through the housing estate.

The group was driving along Whitletts Road when a report was made to police.

The roller was later traced on Russell Drive and an investigation was launched by officers.

Police say the roller has now been returned to the owners.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of youths who had stolen a tarmac roller and were driving it along Whitletts Road, Ayr.

“The incident happened around 10pm on Wednesday, October 13.

“Officers traced the machinery in the Russell Drive area and it has been returned to the owners. Enquiries are ongoing.

“Anyone who has any information relating to this incident should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 3552 of 13 October. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
