Watch as World War Two Spitfire thanking our NHS flies over North Coast hospitals

Pictures and videos have emerged online as an old WW2 spitfire flew over the North Coast in a bid to thank our NHS for their majestic efforts during the pandemic.

The aircraft, which is covered with names of 80,000 NHS workers nominated by the public, buzzed through the air over Causeway and Altnagevlin hospitals today.

Eoin McConnell caught it in action over Limavady, while Ross Anderson captured video footage of the antique plane over Coleraine hospital this afternoon.

Ross said: "Not everyday that you get to see a spitfire, an incredible plane flying for an incredible cause!"

The aircraft took off from Scotland's Cumbernauld Airport at 3.30pm and later landed at Derry Airport following its fly-by.

Tomorrow it is due above hospitals in Craigavon, Armagh, Newry, Downpatrick, Lisburn, Belfast, Antrim, Dundonald and Newtownards.
