Watch as viral Coatbridge parkour star goes on daredevil tour of Glasgow

A Coatbridge parkour athlete goes on a daredevil tour of the city in a new video promoting the arrival of a popular talk series in Glasgow.

Robbie Griffith, 18, can be seen seen sprinting, leaping and somersaulting from pillar to post through notable spots in the city centre - including Glasgow University, Wellpark Brewery and George Square - showcasing his astonishing skills and athleticism.

The footage featuring the thrill-seeker is being used to promote TEDxGlasgow, which comes to Scotland on June 14 at the SEC Armadillo.

This year's theme for the world-renowned talk series is 'Connection', exploring the way our generation makes and breaks them due to advances in technology.

Robbie shows how in a world of computers and social media, he can instead be found outdoors, doing impressive stunts around the Glasgow’s urban landscape.

More than 2,000 people are expected to attend the TedxGlasgow event, which will welcome internationally recognised speakers as well as Scotland’s big thinkers and achievers who will deliver short, engaging TEDx talks on the theme.

Gurjit Singh Lalli, founder and curator at TEDxGlasgow, said: “This year’s theme of connection is hugely relevant in 2019 across all generations. Whether we’re making them, breaking them, discovering them or searching for them - connections have shaped, and continue to shape, the world we live in. We’re now more connected than we ever have been but with advances in technology, we’re also increasingly socially isolated.

“Since starting in 2012, our events in Glasgow have been going strength to strength and we’re proud to be celebrating locally-driven ideas and sparking debate in the city. We’re looking forward to hearing our speakers’ approaches on this theme and seeing the tangible impact their words have on our attendees.”

More details of the event, including the speaker line-up and opportunities to get involved will be announced in the coming months.
