Video shows a van exploding and crashing into another parked car after being engulfed by flames on a quiet Glasgow street this morning.
Fire crews raced to the scene of the van blaze on Broomieknowe Road in Rutherglen after the alarm was raised around 6:30am.
The video was captured by a local resident on his way to Rutherglen train station.
The eyewitness, who chose to remain anonymous, told Glasgow Live: "I was walking to get the 7:10am train from Rutherglen into work and saw smoke from Blairbeth Road, turned on to Broomieknowe Road to see the van on fire.
"As I got closer to the van it started to roll down the hill into a parked car.
"The explosion clearly startled everyone around. I heard someone shout 'phone an ambulance' just before I walked by the burning van, then after I walked by the van, an older man mentioned something about a battery in the van starting it. I'm not sure how he knew though."
A Scottish Fire & Rescue Service spokeswoman confirmed to Glasgow Live: "We attended a report of a van on fire on Broomieknowe Road at 6:36am. One appliance was mobilised. There was one private van on fire."
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Enquiries are continuing after a van caught fire and exploded in Broomieknow Rd, Rutherglen this morning. Police called at 06:40 hrs."
