Watch as Sunderland fan slams Phil Parkinson on 5Live and claims Black Cats are in relegation fight

A Sunderland fan took to national radio last night to slam Phil Parkinson's management of the club.

The Black Cats laboured to a 0-0 draw against League One's bottom side Bolton Wanderers as fans chanted 'we want Parky out,' and called for club legend Kevin Phillips to replace him.

Parkinson has won just two of his 14 matches in charge of Sunderland and the Black Cats have not won since November 2.

Yesterday's draw saw Sunderland slump to 15th in the League One table - the club's lowest ever league position - and it felt as if fan discontent towards Parkinson had reached the point of no return.

There seems to be no immediate plans to replace Parkinson, though, and he is likely to get the January transfer window to try and turn things around.

But with Sunderland now seven points adrift of the play-off places, Black Cats fan Cody rang BBC Radio 5Live to air his frustrations.

"It is very depressing right now with Sunderland," he said.

"It's a bit like the Championship days. We are in another relegation fight now, it looks like.

"To draw 0-0 with bottom of the table Bolton and they looked like the team fighting for promotion, scared me."

5Live pundit Chris Sutton then asked if he honestly believed Sunderland were in a relegation fight to which Cody replied: "Honestly, we were playing bottom of the league and we are playing bottom of the league football.

"We are playing long balls which is Phil Parkinson's tactics and it doesn't work because we have 5ft 10ins players up front."

When asked if it was all Phil Parkinson's fault Cody continued: "We have had the biggest budget in the league and we probably could have gone for better players.

"We technically should have the best team but you would think the players we have bought would try to play better under the new manager to try and impress but it just hasn't worked.

"There's chants going round of 'sacked in the morning', 'we want Kevin Phillips in', it is very negative."
