Shocking footage has emerged showing a 'stolen' car being used to ram-raid a convenience store. CCTV footage shows a car reversing into the shop's security shutters, reports Hull Live.
The incident took place in the early hours of yesterday morning in Hull, with footage showing four men arriving at the shop in a red car that was allegedly stolen. The vehicle then reversed into the shop’s security shutters, causing serious damage.
The damage to the store is believed to run into the thousands, with a large amount of stock understood to have been stolen. Humberside Police has been informed and is looking into the matter.
A spokesperson for the force said: “We are investigating the attempted burglary of a supermarket on Ellerburn Avenue in Hull which happened shortly after midnight on Monday 16 January 2023. A vehicle was reported to have been driven into the shop’s security shutters."
The Facebook group Stolen Vehicles East Yorkshire added: “Four thieves in what is believed to be a stolen vehicle rammed the store, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. They broke in and stole a large amount of stock.”
It is not the first time that the Euro supermarket has been targeted by thieves. A gang ram-raided it in a similar incident back in 2021. During that ordeal, a car reversed into the shop, giving way for the gang to break in and steal a substantial amount of cash and goods.
