Watch as Sir Rod Stewart leads Celtic sing-along beside Hoops chiefs

Footage has emerged of Celtic fanatic Sir Rod Stewart leading a Hoops singalong alongside club chairman Ian Bankier and chief executive Peter Lawwell.

The clip, believed to have been filmed last week in Rome, shows the legendary crooner belting out the Irish folk ballad 'Grace' as he urges his fellow dinner guests to get involved.

Bankier, who is sitting on the left hand side of the 74-year-old, rises to his feet and joins in with Sir Rod as he chants the hit made famous by Jim McCann.

The camera pans around the room and Lawwell is visible as he also shows off his singing voice.

Stewart's close pal and Celtic songwriter Jon McLaughlin is also in attendance as the Hoops hierarchy enjoyed a night to remember.

And the trip to the Eternal City will live long in the memory for Celtic supporters as they watched their side secure a place in the last 32 of the competition with two games to spare.

Olivier Ntcham's brilliant last-gasp winner against Lazio sent the Hoops supporters inside the Stadio Olimpico into raptures.

And Sir Rod enjoyed a few days to remember and even called in to tell the Daily Record's Hotline   all about his trip for the ages.

He said: “I said a couple of months ago that this team might have something very special and it’s slowly coming to fruition. All day in Rome, I enjoyed being with our supporters.

“I was sitting in the sun outside a restaurant with my mates when I heard in a restaurant next door 10 lads in Hoops tops singing, ‘You’re in my Heart,” so we joined in.

“Could you imagine the look on their faces? They all immediately joined us and we sang ‘Grace’, before they took some selfies for their mums. They were all polite and thankful. A magic moment.”
