Watch as Scotland's youngest MND sufferer gets engaged in romantic proposal

The youngest MND patient in Scotland has got engaged after a romantic Watch flash-mob choir help romantic boyfriend pop question in Edinburgh .

Lucy Lintott , 24, a Daily Record Our Heroes Award winner, discovered she had the terminal illness motor neurone disease when she was just 19.

But the brave youngster has spent her time since her diagnosis trying to raise money for research with MND Scotland.

And in 2015 together with Gordon Aikman, who died two years ago, she won the fundraiser award at the Our Heroes event.

While her speech and mobility have deteriorated in the last few years, Lucy’s cheery disposition has inspired hundreds to fundraise in her name.

And it clearly captured the heart of her boyfriend Tommy Smith.

In a video on Lucy’s Twitter page headed “When you know, you know” the couple are seen apparently posing for photographs until Tommy reaches into his sporran, takes out a ring box and gets down on one knee.

Placing his hand on her knee he said: “I would like you to do me the pleasure of being my wife.”

Lucy beamed but made no reply until Tommy prompted: “Waiting for an answer.”

At this point she nodded and said ‘yes’ before Tommy tenderly placed a ring on her finger.

Tributes flood in for Scot teen Alix Cassidy who died after cancer misdiagnosed as arthritis  

Chairman of MND Scotland, and a close friend of Gordon Aikman, Lawrene Cowan tweeted: “Congratulations! So happy for you both.”

And fellow MND sufferer, former Scotland rugby internationalist Doddie Weir , commented: “Congratulations to you both.”

Singer Michelle McManus also tweeted her congratulations: “This is everything. So happy for you both.”
