Watch as prisoners inside Barlinnie jail cheer and shout 'come on carers'

This is the moment prisoners inside HMP Barlinnie cheered and applauded to show appreciation for NHS staff and key workers fighting the coronavirus pandemic.

Inmates can be heard whooping, clapping as well as shouting 'come on carers' and 'here we go' from their caged windows that overlook Riddrie, in the north-east of the city.

The clip was filmed by a resident whose house looked onto the complex.

Footage shared on social media has racked up thousands of views in less than 24 hours.

Notorious 'Bar-L' jail is Scotland's largest prison with a capacity of over 1,000 inmates.

Scots hung out of windows and spilled out onto streets across the country for the third time last night as part of the Clap for Carers campaign.

The deadly virus has claimed the lives of 495 Scots.

Over 5,000 people in the country have tested positive.
