Watch as police car sends Fiat Punto spinning into trees

This footage shows the moment a police vehicle sent a car spinning into trees after the driver breached a road closure.

The dramatic incident was captured on a dashcam camera fitted in the police car.

Police chased Mardoche Koko from Birmingham after he drove on a road that had been closed by police, putting officers' lives at risk.

The shocking incident happened on St Peter's Way in Bolton, on August 13, last year.

Police quickly closed in on the driver, initially following closely behind in the same lane, BirminghamLive reports.

As they prepare to make contact, the officer switches lanes, driving at around 70mph to drive alongside him.

His car is then struck on the passenger's side at 50mph and loses control, spinning into the grass verge on the road side.

It crashes into the barrier before the police car also comes to a stop and the video ends.

Koko was sentenced to 14 days imprisonment for due care and insurance fraud.

He was also handed fines totalling £1,000 along with five licence points.

The Central Motorway Police Group retweeted the Greater Manchester Police clip, saying: "On 13/08/18 a fiat punto breached a police closure on St Peter's Way Bolton risking the safety of officers at the scene.

"This week Mardoche Koko from Birmingham was sentenced for due care and insurance fraud, he received fines totalling £1000 + 5 points plus 14 days imprisonment."
