Watch as Penicuik dad plays bagpipes for the elderly outside Midlothian care home during lockdown

A Penicuik man used his one exercise of the day to play the bagpipes to elderly people residing in Cowan Court care home.

24-year-old Matthew Taylor, belted out Highland Cathedral on the bagpipes from the garden outside the care home to entertain the residents.

His partner Chloe Campbell was bursting with pride as she shared a video of the performance, racking up hundreds of likes and comments praising the father of one.

The kind-hearted man told Edinburgh Live: "I’ve played the bagpipes from a relatively young age.

"I have close family connections with Cowan Court the old people’s home and love playing for them throughout the year

"With times being hard, I thought I’d go play for them and the surrounding areas to stick a smile on people's faces."

Matthew recently had a baby with his partner Chloe, who shared the video online writing: "So proud of Matthew out the kindness of his heart went to Cowan Court care home for his one exercise of the day and played to them from the garden and outside!"

"They were all so happy and made them smile from being in isolation! They all were watching from their windows and verandas and cheering and recording him!

She told Edinburgh Live: " We have a 10-week old baby and he's still wanting to go out and make everyone smile it’s lovely."
