WATCH as passengers forced to flee from bus as it is engulfed in flames

Passengers were forced to flee after a bus became engulfed in flames in Wishaw on Monday night.

The blaze, which began at approximately 8pm in Netherton Road, saw a huge fire rip through the bus.

Eye witness Sarmad Moughal, who lives nearby, took a number of videos showing the flames shooting into the night sky.

Sarmad said: “Not many people were on board but the driver got them clear.

“There was a small fire at first then I think the engine exploded shortly after.

“The explosion was pretty loud. I’m just glad no-one was hurt.”

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed: “We were alerted at 8.15pm on Monday, March 9, to reports of a bus on fire on Netherton Road, Wishaw, North Lanarkshire.

“Operations Control mobilised two appliances to the scene alongside emergency service partners.

“Crews worked to extinguish the fire and left after making the area safe.”
